"E L L" is a songwriting and production alias centred around personal lyrical narratives and mixed-genre production styles. 'COAL' was the debut in 2021.

 

It's a story about absence of purpose, set at a time of political fractures and social pressures, where self-destruction is a familiar refuge.

Stylistically diverse, it draws sonic influences from Douglas Dare's piano-led debut, the noise synthesis of Trent Reznor, the string arrangements of Jonny Greenwood and the meandering lyrical musings of Mac Demarco.
